Cosmetic Ink

Microbladed brows, powder brows, eyeliner tattoos, and lip blush can pose a unique challenge with laser tattoo removal. Unlike traditional ink, cosmetic ink can oxidize and turn different colors. This is called paradoxical darkening. We have done hundred of laser treatments on cosmetic ink — enough to know that they require experience recognizing when it may not react as expected. Additionally, special laser shields must be placed inside the eye to protect the retina when dealing with eyeliner tattoos. Step 1: Consultation

When you visit Erasable Med Spa for tattoo removal in Tampa, you’ll meet with one of our experts for a complimentary consultation. We use the Kirby-Desai Tattoo Removal scale to evaluate the individual elements that make up your tattoo. This helps us devise a customized treatment plan that ensures the best results for your removal. Then we’ll get started with your treatment!

Step 2: Treatment

During your appointment, the skin will be cleaned and prepped. We have a variety of numbing options based on each individual’s pain tolerance. No doubt, the treatment is uncomfortable but it is quick! In some cases, as short as 5-7 seconds. Once your procedure is completed, you will be given aftercare instructions and recommendations for products that will help you heal faster and avoid complications. Most tattoos require 5-10 sessions for best results but in some cases can take 15-20. Your medical provider will give you an estimate based on factors such as your skin type, colors in the ink, location of the tattoo and density of the ink. In some cases, tattoos do not fully clear and your laser specialist will be upfront about this in your personalized consultation if there are any concerns.

Step 3: Results

You’ll want to be sure to wear sunscreen and keep the area protected with our recommended aftercare products. While the majority of our patients see complete clearance, there are some tattoos that are too difficult to remove. Examples of these are tattoos that contain white ink, tattoos with coverups and multiple layers, and tattoos that have pre-existing scars during placement. Additionally, patient health status and lifestyle habits play a key role in clearance. Excessive smoking, heavy alcohol intake, auto-immune disorders, and morbid obesity are some of the things that can impact effective clearance. Your medical provider will review your health history and discuss this during your one on one consultation.
